Erin, Mary, her friend and I went to go see my first nerdcore show last Friday. It was pretty awesome. For one thing, I've never been to a show where the performer rolled a 20-sider to see what songs would be played next. He gave the audience a character and we had a little adventure which decided whether he, MC Frontalot, would play either Likely to be Eaten by a Grue (my favorite) or Goth Girls (my other favorite). He also wore neat pants.

Other performers were MC Lars, of whose performance If I Had a Time Machine and Ahab (the first rap song about Moby Dick I’ve heard) stand out, and Optimus Rhyme, who talked very fast. There was also an opening act that was neat called...something with the word “Lobster” in it. They had a cool song called Hair Cut City about getting your hair cut in the city, and Galaga about playing Galaga. They were punk as fuck, which was nice, because I’ve gotta admit, those other guys are not great rappers. Neat, and it’s super-awesome to hear a song about Zork, but not great rappers. They were, each one of them, good enough to hold my attention for a set, but put all three together and you got what Erin described as “the world’s longest in-joke” told to the same fast rhythm.

Other news: Erin and I finally got our wedding invites out which means that if you don’t get one soon either 1) we don’t like you, 2) we don’t know you, or 3) I’m too lazy and don’t know your address. Most likely 3 or 2. I’ll be calling people soon to fill in my missing addresses.

Also: I got a new laptop! 17 inches of pure power, baby! I just couldn’t wait for June.

Also: We got Sasquatch tickets! Looking forward to an Arcade Fire/Bjork-a-thon.

That’s it for now!
