Went to see that new movie with Judi Dench and Kate Winslow, Notes on a Scandal. I was glad I wore my hoodie so I could pull it over my head when things got too...uncomfortable. At one point I tried to back through my chair, yet remained unable to tear my eyes away from the screen. It was a Clockwork Orange moment. Really a great movie though, and Dench lays out a brilliant and all-too-believable performance. But if episodes of Threes Company made you feel awkward, as they did me, then be sure to wear your hoodie to this one.

Went to Colossos last night, a nice tapas bar on East Broadway, with the newly arrived Gordon and his internet-friend Alice, a self-proclaimed "lucrative librarian" who does something tech-y for a Myers-Briggs-like company. A person cut from some of the same geeky cloth as Erin and myself, our conversations began with a defense of Krypto the wonder dog (from Superman comix)and led to a condemnation of robot librarians, a dangerous phenomenon being tested in the ungodly city of Chicago, an experiment doomed to end in Westworld-style horror. A fine time.

I also got a digital audio cable for the 360, so now all those gunshots that annoy Erin so much are that much more real sounding.
