So the other day, I forget exactly when, a word came into my mind, unbidden. The word unrolled its rucksack in a corner and lit a fire over which to cook its meagre meal of baked beans in a can. Having achieved this, the word got out its harmonica and played a few tunes from the old country, staring out at this new territory: my head.

And the word was "Bethesda".

What the fuck? Why has a name of a town in Maryland landed in my brain and why can't I get rid of it now? I see it all the time! I've heard it twice in conversation!

Whatever.

Went and saw Terry Pratchett yesterday. Erin got to meet and talk with him, but didn't ask him out. He's a funny guy and good with a story. I took some illicit video by accident, so maybe I'll pirate post it!

Of course, of the people I know who read this blog, perhaps two actually know who Terry Pratchett is, so maybe I won't.

Last night I had this strange dream. Well, not that strange but incredibly vivid. I dreamt that Kino came into my room and laid down on the floor with me. I guess she's done that so many times I have a good mental image of it, because the dream was near-lucid and very real. I was very happy.

I get phrases stuck in my head as well, but not good ones. Things like "I want a coke and a turkey pot pie," rolling over and over in my head, to the tune of shave-and-a-haircut, for DAYS. When in reality I want neither.

So guess who just got a job running the fucking PLANETARIUM here?

If you guessed me, you're right.

Kino would like to come join you on the floor and shed all over you!

She seems happy here, but misses you. Espcially while I can't take her for walks at Three Peaks.

Yesterday I thought of this post. Here's why. I crashed my bike coming down the OHSU hill. Full on flying over the handlebars crash with split chin (four stitches), somewhat mangled hands and a laceration on my hip. As I lie on the side of the road waiting for the ambulance to take me the 40 yards back to the hospital emergency room the word sclerotome popped into my head. It's a stupid word related to my work but I Could NOT get it out of my head and I couln't remember what it meant. It drove me crazy.

Oh yea I'm fine just feeling like I lost a one-on-one with gravity. Bitch always wins.

Bethesda MD is one of the first sites where govmnt. research into mind control began, like in 1947.
