Sitting and playing Scrabble today with Erin at Foxfire teas, one of our favorite hangouts. Well, I was playing until she got a call from her 'rents and wandered off. Sometimes Erin pulls a "vanishing" and dissapears with scarcely a trace, leaving behind a cold cup of tea or a book carelessly discarded. I ask around, but nobody has seen her, and I don't speak French and some terrorists want my luggage... no, wait, that was "Frantic".
Speaking of films, we went to see "Old Boy" at the Mission theater yesterday, a place wher eyou can drink a beer ot two and watch a second-run flick. And after this experience, I must admit that, and I never thought I would see myself type this, maybe alcohol does not belong everywhere. But then again, I wanted to see something stupid like "The Longest Yard" and not a Korean psycho-thriller. Those idiots sitting near us would have pissed off the pope, though, regardless of the quality of the film. Even that old, nice pope who died.
"Old Boy" was a fun romp of a film about one man's search for his captors after 15 years of imprisonment. Of course, by "fun romp" I mean horrifying and ultra-violent plunge into psychotic darkness. I recommend it for kids who like seeing people cut off their own tounges, or pry out the teeth of their victims with a hammer like porcelain nails from a moldy old board.
