Greetings from sunny Oregon! No, really. It's been sunny here of late. And hot. Especially in our room on the second floor of Jim's house, which is where we've decided to camp out for the next month, until I find some work. Hot, hot, heat. From the walls it pours in, from the ceiling it folds down, from the bed and into the air it suffuses and permeates, suffocating and stifiling. We lie in bed at night, limbs splayed and breathing shallowly, feeling the hot air fill our innermost cavities.

So it's like being in Japan again, in that way.

No job yet, for me, but some work of a freelance variety have I found. And perhaps representation with Aquent, a freelance warehouse, might be coming. I've still not applied to three or four local agencies, plus the big boys.

Not having work is kind of liberating in a way, because instead of worrying about a million tiny things, I just have this one thing to fret about. Every time I start to worry about where to live or how to get my stuff here or where this place is or what, in a general sense, I'm doing, I find that I can't concentrate on these worries, can't locate them at all in fact. They are but ants on the cliff face of my worry. Work.

Work! I need to find this toad to sit on my life.
