I dreamt about that old house last night. It was haunted, wasn't it? The cracks and the old rooms. It was haunted by the living, though. At first it was haunted by the living, then abandoned.

That old black cat that belonged to nobody, I don't remember her name. Dudley used to feed her when she would come around and so she started coming around. She was sweet. She was persistent. Cat traits. She entered through the broken window after the place was abandoned, but her timing was wrong and the window boarded up after her and she died alone in that place, sitting patiently by the door is where they found her.

I dreamt of a dark and weedy pool in a wild wood behind the house. Somebody wanted to see it and my friend said "yes" and I wanted to stop him from saying that but I didn't. In the backyard lived the worms and the bugs. The worms made the ground uneven and crunchy with their tunneling, and the whole backyard was like this from the mass of them writhing over and around each other. The centipedes lived in the big dead tree. As we walked through the yard, our legs hidden by the overgrown weeds, we felt them move around us. A crow flew down to grab a centipede and together they fought until the bird pecked the black bug apart. I woke up.

Someone was breathing next to me, but I wasn't scared. I turned to see if it was someone I knew. Nobody. Then I heard the hall closet door slide and footsteps, and the front door close. I opened the door to my room to look out, and of course there was nothing.
