yesterday was spent at the airport purgatory. A place for the damned awaiting judgement; filled with their tensions and dissapointments. People sitting, camping like refugees in a disorganized triage. We sit too and wait. and wait. and wait. I didn't write, didn't read, didn't draw... didn't even feel the energy or compulsion to do these things or anything. Just sit and look at the snow and the red letters spelling cancelled. The trick is, how they get you, there's always something just a little bit farther down the road (don't unpack my metaphor yet). First waiting to see if your regular flight time... just enough time between now and then to not go anywhere... then to see if your flights cancelled, then for the bus to take you back to Hobetsu. Each wait has it's own line, so you're constantly busy doing nothing (OK, unpack it now).
How do you keep a moron waiting? Tell me later.
Anyways. Back here in inaka (nowhere) Hobetsu. Snow everywhere and nice powder too. Can't go anywhere until tomorrow (all flights to Osaka booked). This little town has a rope tow open at 1, so I'll hike up there then, get some first turns in this freshy! Off a rope tow! Delicious.
Oh yeah, Niseko? I'll tell ya later. Worst conditions ever. Nightmare. White-out and snow blind all day in deep freezing muck. But for a few turns... heaven. You can unpack that metaphor if you want too.
