This morning I got up, got ready for school, put on my headphones and stepped out the door. The first track from the Cure's disintegration was playing and, what? Shut up. I love the Cure. Anyways, it was timed up just right... the song starts with these soft chimes playing, and then erupts into a big orchestral sound, just as I was stepping out the door. It was like watching the Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd playing.

As the little streams of commuters on bikes began to flow together, I found myself following a school girl on her way to class. Long scarves are in and she must have been very hip for her scarf was long enough to wrap several mummies in the latest wool fabrics. You see where I'm going, huh? I watched her for several blocks in a hangnail torture state as the scarf fluttered and flirted about the swiftly spinning rear wheel. The scarf would just touch the plane of the spinning spokes for a millisecond like a bug lighting on a lake and then quickly change its mind and flutter off. I wanted to warn her but I found myself unable to utter a word. She was far away from me somehow, crystallized and held close by fate. But my Isadora Duncan moment was to end without a tragedy, thankfully, and the student scooted merrily through the school gates, none the wiser.

Such is life.
